The missing W
I am fed up this morning. This is for a variety of reason, but the straw that broke my back was visiting Carsonified’s site only to be displayed a page not found error. A quick check and I realised, in my haste, I had missed one of the ’w’s from the ‘www’. No big problem a quick insert and I was on my way, but it got me thinking about all the other times that I have had similar experiences with sites where either a simple typo on the ‘www’ or even missing the w’s all together has presented problems.
I think about all the potential visitors who don’t know better or don’t care to check that may be lost when presented with similar situations, and when the fix is so simple I ask is this a problem we should still be having?
A simple wildcard subdomain entry can be added easily and is supported by most web hosts. This is just one simple thing that will help visitors to your site, hopefully, without them even noticing.
